Yasuharu Kamioka Ph.D

 

Academic interests and works

Basically his interest is in superfluid helium heat transfer. The heat transfer problem in a magnet cooled by subcooled superfluid helium was his major work. He extended his work into a dilution refrigerator and developed several type of dilution refrigerator such as a plastic one which is used in an extremely high field pulse magnet, a long tail one for high field magnet and a liquid helium free one using cryocooler. During the time at Toyo Sanso Co., Ltd. – Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corp., many cryogenic equipments and systems were developed for academic and industrial research. Recently his interest is in HTS application cooling system. Neon turbo Brayton refrigerator for large HTS applications was developed under his leadership at Taiyo Nippon Sanso.

He has about 40 patents and more than 70 papers in cryogenics.

Graduated from Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology in 1972.

PhD(Engineering, Heat transfer of pressurized superfluid Helium II)  from University of Tokyo in 1984.

Professional Career:

Joined with Toyo Sanso Co., Ltd. in 1972 and was working as a R&D researcher in cryogenic engineering.

Was a visiting researcher at University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).

Was a general manager of Cryogenic Development Lab. of Toyo Sanso Co., Ltd.

Was a visiting professor of Research Center for Materials Science at Extreme Conditions, Osaka University and a lecturer of Sophia University.

Was a general manager of Cryogenics Department of Taiyo Toyo Sanso Co., Ltd.    Was a corporate officer of Taiyo Nippon Sanso Corporation
